General Donation Journey
Donation and Funding Principles
How general donations are allocated
General donations are allocated to GDfH priorities according to nonprofit purposes, responsible fund-use principles, project readiness, funding gaps, feasibility and current development needs. A donor preference helps guide GDfH but does not automatically create a project-specific restriction unless clearly agreed and accepted by GDfH.
Within this framework, general donations may respond to urgent needs affecting families, groups or communities that are not yet covered by listed projects; close funding gaps in prepared family-level or community-level projects, project components or implementation needs that are ready for responsible delivery; and support the coordination, monitoring, reporting, financial control, documentation and compliance capacity required for transparent and accountable implementation.
Donation confirmations and tax-related notes
Donation confirmations are handled according to applicable German nonprofit and tax requirements. A confirmation can only be issued where required donor, payment and donation information is available and matched. Official wording and statutory treatment remain subject to GDfH management and external tax-adviser review.
Responsible implementation costs
GDfH aims to direct the highest possible share of available funds to project implementation and beneficiary-related support. Responsible delivery may also require coordination, monitoring, reporting, payment handling, documentation, financial control and compliance capacity. Unavoidable third-party costs such as bank charges, payment fees, transfer fees or currency conversion costs may reduce the amount available for project use.
Reporting and donor communication
Registered donors receive relevant project updates, fund-use information, completion information or impact reporting where applicable and practical, depending on the project type, funding size, donor communication preference, available data and reporting arrangements. Any beneficiary communication must respect dignity, safety, privacy and local context.
Anonymous donations
Donors may request not to be publicly named. Public anonymity does not remove GDfH's need to maintain internal donor records where required for finance, compliance, tax, audit or reporting purposes. Fully anonymous donations cannot receive official donation confirmations where donor identity and required supporting information are not available.
