Liberia
Kpaai District, Bong County
Area: 671 km²
Population: 29,806
- 71% of families live in poverty (national average 51%)
- Farming-only households earn USD 637 per year
- 81% report no health facility nearby
- 35% of those surveyed have no formal education
- 91% of households have no electricity
Sierra Leone
Pujehun District, Southern Province
Area: 4,105 km²
Population: 429,574
- 87% of families live below the poverty line
- Farming-only households (92%) earn USD 273 per year
- Only 30% live within 1 km of a health facility
- 81% of those surveyed have no formal education
- 99% of households have no electricity
Afghanistan
Shakar Dara District, Kabul Province
Area: 271 km²
Population: 99,639
- About 40% poverty at district level (estimate)
- Farming-only households earn USD 1,150 per year
- 99% report no health facility nearby (nearest ≈ 10 km)
- 35% of those surveyed have no formal education
- Groundwater down 25–30 m in a decade, irrigation scarce
Household-level pilot projects
Our first three household-level pilots started in autumn 2026: one family, USD 300 of interest-free support, one small business. It is not a grant: the family returns it in small monthly amounts so it can reach further families.
